Tadpole Treble (game from Brawl in the Family artist)

How many of you out there are familiar with the webcomic "Brawl in the Family"?  It's a gaming webcomic that's based around pre-existing video game characters, mostly Nintendo characters (and even more specifically Kirby characters), as they have comedic set-ups to some of the more quirky nature of certain games and game characters.  Check it out here:

Brawl in the Family Main Page

Anyway, he is making a musical game called "Tadpole Treble", which is about a little tadpole called "Baton" as she tries to get back to her pond, and she swims through sheets of music.  Here's a small teaser here:

He's holding a Kickstarter campaign to raise the money for it:

$30,000 and the game will be funded!  $50,000 and we'll get a Wii U version!  There are other stretch goals, too, but not many...  This guy's a really funny and awesome guy, and the game is cute and charming!  Help this guy out and pitch in!

Hurricane Fluttershy: Why it's My Personal Favorite Episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

So, I don't know how many of you actually read this blog, but for those of you that do, you'll probably know that I'm a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (I GUESS I'm a Brony, though I seem to be steadily growing more uncomfortable with the word every day).  The premiere of season 4 of the show will be November 23 this year, and in honor of the event, Equestria Daily, one of the most well-know pony-related blogs/fansites on the web, has been counting down the days by going over every episode so far (plus the movie Equestria Girls).  Today, they recap the season 2 episode, Hurrican Fluttershy:

I made a long, multi-part comment on the site, as well as various sites, about how I feel about the episode and why it's so personal to me...  So I figured I might as well share it on my blog as well.  See my thoughts after the break, though be prepared for a big read (though by now, I think you'd be used to it).

Dead Meat (new show from Billy & Mandy creator)

I just found out about this, and I'm helping to spread the word!

Cartoon Brew: "Billy and Mandy" Creator Maxwell Atoms Sells "Dead Meat" on Kickstarter

Kickstarter Page

Facebook Page

From Maxwell Atoms, the creator of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (and Evil Con Carne) comes a new web series called Dead Meat, a “post-apocalyptic black comedy/social satire/puppet gore web series about a guy and his mutant dog called Dead Meat.”  The Kickstarter goal is $50,000 and ends on November 16 (my birthday).

Heck yeah, this is awesome!  I mean, I would have preferred seeing Atoms getting that Underfist spin-off series, but still, heck yeah!

I Miss Enjoying Something for Enjoyment's Sake

Just felt like sharing this for a moment:

The guy here, Daniel Floyd, talks about why certain "retro-style" games stick with us, and gives his own personal reason for it.  Thing is, the words Dan uses, "joy, zany, child-like wonder", those are the same exact words I use to describe Wander Over Yonder!  So many times, I've come across people who say Wander's annoying, the show's childish, or that it's not as good as DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, blah blah blah...  Now, setting aside the "they don't make 'em like they used to" attitude here, isn't it SAD that something that's just apologetically fun is being shunned and looked down upon simply for being that?  I mean, not to knock the mroe serious dramas other TV shows do, but why CAN'T we just enjoy something like this?  This is now my favorite TV show, not just on the air or in modern times, but of ALL TIME, because I LOVE this aspect about the show.  It's funny, it's crazy, it's got great comedic timing, it's knows JUST what it wants to be without missing the mark, and best (or perhaps in a way, worst) of all, it stands out as an inherently positive show in the utter wasteland that is cynical, mean-spirited, snarky and sarcastic, and at times outright RUDE shows where characters are mean to each other without a second thought.  There's this assumption that comedy is all about the suffering of others, and while that's true to an extent, this show proves that you can be funny AND be heartwarming and have a good message as well!  I literally can NOT say enough good things about this show, and it greatly saddens me that people are putting it down for the very things that the show excels at...

...Ah well, maybe in time, it'll grow an appreciation...  Or perhaps kids who watch it today with get nostalgic for it and then say no show will ever be as good as this one.  Hopefully, that second one won't happen...  or at the very least, be as bad as how it is today.

I may not know what I like, but I know what I don't like

That's become something of a catchphrase to me as of late, because I find myself constantly questioning whether or not I enjoy something in retrospect.  More often then not, I find myself coming across stuff I don't like or didn't care for being more apparent in re-watchings or re-readings or replayings of certain TV shows, movies, books, video games, etc.  Thing is, when it's something I never liked from the start, that part I never question, even if I can't fully justify why I didn't like it.  It made me feel weird and uncomfortable, so I don't like it.

Now, before I continue, I just want to say this isn't a cry for attention (that's honestly a LOT more trouble then it's worth), nor is it me just ranting and bitching about stuff I don't like it.  This is also not me suggestion everyone should like the same thing, that's just ridiculous; having different opinions and different points of view can enlighten others and broaden our horizons to new things and ideas we might end up liking!  This has become something that's been consuming me for a while now, and it's only until recently that I've decided to say something about it like this.  Hopefully, some of you have similar stories to share.  Continued after the break:

Wander Over Yonder: My Thoughts and Hopes

So Wander Over Yonder officially premiered last Friday on the Disney Channel.  It's a new animated show created by Craig McCracken, the creator of classic Cartoon Network TV series such as The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.  I saw it with a couple of friends of mine, and I eventually showed it to my mom and personal trainer.  The two episodes that aired, "The Greatest" and "The Egg", are available on iTunes, so you can go ahead and checked them out!  When I got them, they happened to be free (though I went ahead an purchased a seasonal pass anyway); I don't know if this offer is still available, or if it's available anywhere outside the USA, though.

I'd like to take some time to talk about what I thought of the show, as well as some other things about the show.  Apologies in advance for the super-duper, triple-extra-large post following the break, and preemptive "screw you"s to anyone who feels the need to reply to this with a dumb "tl;dr".  If you didn't read it, you don't need to respond to it!  ...Thought since I don't get comments anyway, that shouldn't be an issue.

But anyway, first of all, let me preface this by saying I saw the sneak peek titled "The Picnic" before I saw this, so I'll be making a lot of comparisons to this, particularly with...

Discord vs. Bill Cipher - Character Comparisons

Alright, one more character comparison...  I'm getting a bit burnt on these character comparisons, though thankfully, this'll probably be the last one I do, since I don't have any other ideas for character comparisons...  at least related to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.  Anyway, once again, if you're not familiar with Gravity Falls, check out Disney's official website:

http://disneychannel.disney.com/gravity-falls

Likewise, if you're not familiar with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, check out Hasbro's official site:

http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/videos

Anyway, for this character comparison, we get into two incredible powerful characters, closely tied to the universe in their respective series...   Oh, and major Gravity Falls spoilers ahead.

Flash Sentry (and others) vs. Wendy - Character Comparisons

Another character comparison, coming right at ya!  Once again, if you don't know much about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, go here:

Okay, this time things are going to be a little different due to the characters involved in this one.  What was hard was that I couldn't find a good My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic character to compare the Gravity Falls one to...  So I'll just go with 3 this time.  Hopefully, you'll see what I'm getting at by the end of all this.

Oh, and mild spoilers for Gravity Falls and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls.

Princess Celestia vs. Grunkle Stan - Character Comparisons

Just a small note, I'm going to get into a lot of spoilers for Gravity Falls.  They will all be unmarked after the break, so just in case you don't want to know anything, or you want to watch the show for yourself before reading this, here's your warning.

Hopefully someone out there reads these and finds these interesting, and if they do, they'll be glad to know I'm continuing this series of character comparisons from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Gravity Falls.  As usual, if you're not that familiar with either show, watch some Friendship is Magic here:

http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/videos

...Or from the Gravity Falls topic on this forum:

Pinkie Pie vs. Mabel Pines - Character Comparisons

This was originally posted on two different forums, before I decided to post it here...  if anyone actually comes here...  but for those who do, whether by chance or because they actually care what I have to say, I'll be posting these on this blog, since I'm actually rather proud of these.

Originally, this was just going to be a topic about me talking about Pinkie Pie from the hit animated series, Hasbro's latest incarnation of My Little Pony; Friendship is Magic,  and Mabel Pines from the new Disney Channel original animated series, Gravity Falls, and about their similarities and differences, but then I decided that I'm going to make a series out of this.  I'm going to compare characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to characters from my other favorite TV series, Gravity Falls.  It would help if anyone out there had some knowledge on both Friendship is Magic and Gravity Falls to understand what I'm getting at with some of them, so you can brush up on a bit of them on their official websites.  Here's the one on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic:

http://www.hubworld.com/my-little-pony/shows/friendship-is-magic/videos

And here's the one on Disney's official website:

http://disneychannel.disney.com/gravity-falls

...But anyway, I want this to be a mostly fun thought experiment, seeing how similar certain characters can be and how they can't be.  So with that in mind let's get rolling after the break!

What Is The Greatest Honor? by Vsauce

So amazingly insightful and beautifully philosophical...  I just had to share this, even if almost nobody reads my blog.  Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the hang of embedding videos yet, so instead I'll just post a link.  Please watch!

Beating Super Meat Boy

So I recently bought a game on Xbox Live arcade called Super Meat Boy.  It's an indie game, made by two guys, plus a guy who composed the music.  You play a small boy made of meat called...  Well, Meat Boy, and you have to rescue your girlfriend Bandage Girl from the evil Dr. Fetus.  It's as bizarre as it sounds.  The game is actually really well-crafted, and I adore it...  Even though it's hard as Hell.  I just beat the game (that is, I got to the end, not completed it 100%, and I really just have to talk about this one moment I had while completing one of the final levels...  See what it is after the break.

WARNING, contains spoilers.

Dream of Politics... and Weird Stuff

Okay, so I had this pretty nutty dream last night.  I don't really have that many memorable dreams, but this one was so out there for me, I had to talk about it.

So, okay, it was election night, and for whatever reason, you get to vote for different parties for president and vice president.  Hilary Clinton has already won the presidential election, and now we were all waiting for who the vice president would be.  It turned out Arnold Schwarzenegger was running in the race for vice president, and he won.  Now for whatever reason, I was really annoyed by this, because I felt he won because of his popularity and not because of his policies, so I set up a bunch of traps to call everyone out on this BS, with stuff like how he wasn't born in America, etc., but nobody bought into it, then finally I stood out amongst the crowd, saying how upset I was, and that the whole election is really just one popularity contest, and that people only liked Arnold because he was in The Terminator.  And Conan the Barbarian.  And Total Recall.  And I began listing all the other awesome movies Arnold was in before admitting he's pretty cool and saying I'm okay with his win.

...Then suddenly, myself from the future shot Arnold and said to me: "Come with me if you want to live."  Turns out Arnold was a Terminator, and as we escaped, he explained that Arnold was really a means for the Republican party to take over the world...

Then M. Bison showed up giving his iconic "Of Course!", and I was like "What the Hell are you doing here?!"  M. Bison explains that this is all part of his plan to take over the world by going back to 1912 and becoming president of the Democratic party!  Then the DeLorean shows up, and Doc Brown is trapped inside of some kind of black mat and...

And I forget what happened after that.  I have to say, this was probably the craziest dream I've had in a while.  Just typing it out, I couldn't help but grin at how silly it got.

My take on Keep Calm and Flutter On

As I said before, I'm a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.  Occasionally, I go to forums and talk about various episodes with fellow fans.  The most recent episode was one that sparked quite a bit of hype and excitement from the fans, because it meant the return of a fan-favorite foe from the series.  It's hard to understand how important this episode seems without really talking about the series itself, but I don't really want to do that here.  I'm just going to talk about my thoughts on the episode, and save my explanation of what I thought of the series for later on.  I might also do something similar for new episodes of Adventure Time and Gravity Falls when they come out.  For now, see what I thought, after the break.

Oh, and spoilers, obviously.
